I found the dress for my steampunk baby! It’s pretty and a little Victorian and all ready for the steampunk part Going to some garage sales Sat morning, hoping to find those supplies

After I finish rooting my mystery baby, I will be starting on the little fairy. She/he will be from a modified Felicia sculpt and I’m so excited to see how it will turn out! The ears were sculpted and added to the sculpt by Sharon of http://sharonsspecialtreasures.com and they are just what I wanted She/he will probably be started next week sometime.

I have wonderful news!

First, my toddler is done and up for adoption ($215)

Second, I finally got just the most perfect and gorgeous dress for my steampunk baby. I’m hitting up the local garage sales this Saturday morning in hopes of finding the remaining supplies.
Third, my surprise baby is painted – went so well, tried quite a few things and am very pleased with how it turned out – and is now starting with being rooted. Unfortunately, I can’t show pictures until after the contest is over, which isn’t until June, so it will have to stay a surprise.

Lastly, I will be starting a new baby here in about another week. I’m debating between my fairy, Riley, and Alise.

Well, I finally started my mystery baby last week. I am already in love, though it is nowhere near completed. Wish I could show pictures, but I can’t as it’s a secret until it’s ready for adoption. Just wanted to share that it’s now a wip!

Cookie, was sculpted by Donna RuBert, and was born today and is now ready for adoption! She’s keeping the name of her sculpt, at least until she’s adopted and then the new family can name her.

All of my current babies are all on hold after tonight. This includes:

The steampunk baby – just needs born, plus waiting for clothing and toy to be created (after supplies bought)

The wigged toddler – half painted

The surprise baby – ready to be started

We have a ton of work to do this weekend (starting in the morning tomorrow) and I’m just not going to have any free time to work on the babies. Hopefully things will calm down on Monday or Wednesday, and then I can work on them some more and post an update.

My youngest daughter was watching me reborn while talking to me this afternoon and noticed I was just sitting there. She asked why and I told her that this gray vinyl just looked so… dead, and I was trying to figure out what to do next in my painting to bring it to life. I decided on some purple and she was like “there’s PURPLE people?!?!” I laughed and said no, but showed her our skin and how there was some purple/blue undertones. Sure enough, after I painted a leg and compared it to an arm, there was a subtle but noticeable difference.

I showed my daughter and she said “I never knew purple was such an alive color” lol

Honey is finished rooting and is getting the pacifier magnet and eyes glued in, will be born some time this week. This is the steampunk baby, who I have yet to decide if it’s a boy or girl, and who I need to rename once I figure it out lol

Also, I have started on a Cacasian toddler (small toddler) girl. This is a picture of her with her eyes and wig, without any painting done to her yet.

Her hair is honey blonde and her eyes bright blue, and she is a sweetie with the silliest look on her face! More pictures after she is completed, possibly next week.

Ignore the far eye – neither are glued yet and the eye on this side is in the correct position, but the other side is not.

Painting hair is much harder than it looks – and just as much work as rooting! Here is Honey after the first layer of painted hair:

I just am not happy with this hair, it doesn’t look realistic enough for me. I have several ideas about things I did wrong or that I would change, but that is for a few future babies (and I have just the hard-headed sculpts for it) and not for a few months. Right now I have too many babies on my to-do list that I’m excited about (which constantly changes, but for now is staying relatively stable – except the wigged toddler that is up next after the surprise baby lol).

So, baring putting Honey away unfinished, which I’ve only done twice and hate to do, the logical choice was to root her. After several tones of hair, I found that the only one to cover the dark painting (for the most part) was black. Well, after rooting a strip, I was even more unhappy because black is way to dark for how fair-toned she is. And so…. after much blahing and bumming around, from out of nowhere came the idea for a steampunk baby! I have no idea what made me think of it, but now I am all excited! I’m going to hunt for a few supplies/part in thrift stores Saturday morning, and keep rooting in the meantime.

A little steampunk hat, onesie, and toy (something like this – so cute! http://www.etsy.com/listing/97631326/steampunk-compass-cyborg-altered-art?ref=v1_other_2 minus the cyborg eye), plus the darkening around the eyes (which I already did), is just what this little baby needs! Now she/he (wondering if it’ll be a boy, starting to look like it) is only 1/3 rooted, but I am thrilled to be doing an out-of-the-box baby again. I’ve only done a few of them – baby Spock, Clark (an alien baby, green and sparkly), and two fairies – but I love the opportunity when something really unique occurs to me. I’m still planning on reborning the other fairy soon – but I have several other babies first (for a list, see my page http://www.edenslittleones.com/year-2012-list-of-planned-babies/
